2014-2015 Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program

REVISED Draft List of Ontario Card Nominations Announced!
On January 14, 2015 the OTA published a DRAFT list of nominated athletes to receive Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance. The Quest for Gold Appeals Committee has reviewed those nominations and found they do not align with the Selection Criteria as posted on the OTA website on November 4, 2014. As a result, the process has been re-done and the following DRAFT list are those athletes who have now been nominated to receive Quest for Gold assistance for fiscal 2014- 2015. Any athlete who wishes to appeal this decision must contact the OTA directly by noon on February 24, 2015 for clarification. Once such contact has been made, if an athlete wishes to submit a formal appeal to the Ministry, a special deadline has been extended to noon on February 26

Ontario Taekwondo Association is pleased to announce a draft list of athletes and alternates who have been nominated for Ontario Cards under the 2014-2015 Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the sport specific selection criteria developed by the Ontario Taekwondo Association, approved by its Board of Directors and applied by the Selection Committee.

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT – December 22, 2014:

Dear Quest For Gold,  Eligible Applicants,

Due to OTA Office’s Holiday Closure December 22, 2014 to January 5, 2015,- hard copy applications cannot be received by personal drop off or delivery. We will  be accepting electronic format (PDF, scanned) of the:

1) Quest for Gold Application: 2014 15 QFG Application Form

2) Point and Event submissions: (*An example is provided on page 6 of the Selection Criteria document (OAAP_Athlete_Selection_Criteria_2014-2015_*UPDATED* Nov 2) and the Point Procedure & valuations are on page 7. You may submit this,  in the form of a document or email.)

3) the Signed  OTA_Athlete_Agreement

Hard Copy Applications sent through postal services must be received by December 31st, 2014 deadline-Tracking Number and details may be requested for proof.

2015 Senior Provincial Finals

Dear Athletes, Coaches, Referees,

The Ontario Taekwondo Association will be holding the the Final Ranking Game for Senior Sparring Divisions & 2015 Provincial Team on Sunday, December 7th, 2014  at Centennial College in Scarborough,ON.

Centennial College – Athletics & Wellness Centre
941 Progress Avenue Toronto, ON M1G 3T8

-Round Robin format. Each athlete in the category will compete against each other once.
-Athletes will get two(2) IVR quotas for the duration of the Championships.
-1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Provincial Championship Medals per Division will be awarded upon completion.
-Athletes will receive appropriate Podium points for this Provincial Event.

In the Case of Ties During the Round Robin Format:
-Tie after Round Robin Competition:
-The tie will be broken based upon the result of the match between the tied competitors. If only two athletes have identical records, the winner of the head to head competition shall be designated the number one seed and the loser of the head to head competition shall be declared the number two seed.
In the case of a three way tie,
-1st ranking will be given to the higher ranked athlete going into the event (Final Game ranking, not overall OTA ranking)
-2nd and 3rd place will be determined by the result of the direct competition between the two athletes.

  • Sunday, December 7, 2014
    8:30 am Referee Meeting, followed by Coach Meeting
    8:45 am First calls for Sparring Matches # 1-8

*Medal Presentations will be done following completion of all Final Matches.
