Ontario Summer Games Taekwondo Participants Announced!

The 2016 Ontario Summer Games (OSG) – the largest in its history – will be hosted in Mississauga, August 11th to 14th. The Taekwondo events will be held at the Erin Meadows Community Centre, 2800 Erin Centre Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5M 6R5 . Athletes, officials and staff will be staying at the Four Points Sheraton, Meadowvale, 2501 Argentia Rd, Mississauga, ON L5N 4G8

Athletes will be competing in two age categories – Cadet and Junior with a total of 20 possible weight categories.

*Taekwondo was historically accepted as a 2016 Ontario Winter Games optional sport. Due to cancellation of 2016 Ontario Winter Games, Taekwondo was considered to showcase in the 2016 Ontario Summer Games. We are very happy to report that 21 clubs from across the province will be represented at OSG 2016!

Selection Process: In identifying the athletes, we first Invited based on 2016 OTA Provincial Black Belt Events results and Ranking. We added a Wild Card Application Process based on active 2016 Season Participation.

Registrations costs are $175.00 per athlete. This included event registration, up to 2 nights at the Games Accomodations, transportation, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the duration of the event, return transportation between the hotel and venue, opening ceremonies and access to other sports venues. The athletes will be supervised by their coaches, managers, staff and officials at the Games Accommodations.

The 2016-2017 OTA PROVINCIAL BLACK BELT EVENT on June 25 & 26 will be held at Ajax High School in Ajax, ON.

OTA Member Black Belts in Poomsae (U10-66+), and Kyorugi (Cadet, Junior & Senior)are invited to participate and included as a process to 2017 Ontario Black Belt Team Selection.
