Referee and Judge Certification

The Ontario Taekwondo Association takes great pride in the ability of its referees and judges. Several times per year the Referee Committee conducts seminars to certify new, and upgrade existing referees and judges. The OTA referees have a reputation of being professional, knowledgeable and impartial.

Starting in 2005, referee seminars will take two days, due to the volume of information to be learned and practiced. Certification requires passing of both a written and practical examination.

If you wish to join the team of officials, watch this site for seminars coming soon to a region near you. There is always a need for more referees and judges. Remember that in order to improve, athletes need ring time at tournaments; tournaments cannot take place without referees and judges.

OTA Referee Committee

Congratulations to all who participated in the OTA Referree Seminar April 21, 2007.

Held at Master Rim's Studio with Tae Kwon Do Black Belts from around Ontario, the participants learned the rules of Amateur Taekwondo Competition and were able to practice their hand signals, terminology and scoring. We wish to congratulate these newly Certified Provincial Referees and extend our support as they continue to build their referee careers.
