Dear Ontario Taekwondo Community,

I have received numerous feedback from members relating the requirement for the annual medical questionnaire as attached in the provincial package.

The concerns that I have received thus far relate to:

  • Privacy and retention of confidential medical information
  • Time frame to see a physician to complete the medical questionnaire in time for the provincial game

To alleviate the concerns as expressed by many members,  in lieu of the completion of the annual medical questionnaire before this provincial game, we will request that all athletes over 18 years of age competing in a sparring division with head contact, sign a declaration that they have not had a concussion over the past 60 days and that if they do sustain a concussion or head injury leading up to the competition day, they will promptly notify the physician on-site for a check to assess their ability to compete prior to competition. Similarly, athletes under the age of 18 will require the same but with the signature of their parent or guardian. I will have the declaration posted to the site by next Wednesday and the responsibility will be on the athlete and/or the parent or guardian to complete the declaration and email the document to info@taekwondo-ontario.com

While the annual medical questionnaire is a requirement of the Ministry, we will explore options to ensure the proper safeguards are in place to protect the athletes medical information while satisfying the Ministry’s requirements. As I have more information, I will promptly notify the membership of the next steps.

Thank you for your feedback.

Good Evening Ontario Taekwondo Community,

I am pleased to announce that we are going live with our online membership registration. Given that this is a new implementation, we will be turning on the online membership system in phases starting with club membership registration.

In order for members to register, the clubs must first be registered before the individual member can be registered. As such, I would like to start by encouraging all club owners to register their respective clubs with Taekwondo Ontario using the link below.

The Executive value the security and information of all our members. As such, this system has been developed in such a way that no credit card or debit card information is stored or retained on our website. The entire payment transaction is processed via the PayPal payment portal. At the completion of the transaction, the school owner will receive a receipt directly from PayPal. Upon approval of the club membership application, you will also receive a confirmation from Taekwondo Ontario.

Once we are comfortable with the club membership registrations, we will advise the membership when individuals can register.

Thank you for your patience in working with us as we implement this system. Should you have any issues with your club membership registration, please do not hesitate to contact us at membership@taekwondo-ontario.com.

Dear Ontario Taekwondo Membership:

Please note that the individual membership fees for Color Belts and Black Belts will be increasing from $25.00 to $35.00 for the upcoming 2017-2018 season. The club membership pricing will remain the same at $300.00.

The reason for the increase is primarily related to an investment into technology to modernize Taekwondo Ontario. This investment includes development costs to build a robust membership system as well as an integrated online event management system. The development and implementation of these systems will help us meet the Ontario Ministry’s requirements, as the official recognized PSO for Taekwondo, in managing and tracking selected athlete information as a combat sport in Ontario.  Additionally, we will also be updating our existing website to deliver a better customer experience for our membership.

We look forward to implementing these systems to drive efficiency and deliver better value to the greater membership.

The logo is modern and reflects the Executive’s desire to modernize the association to be the leading Taekwondo PSO in Canada. As this logo is the property of Taekwondo Ontario, it cannot be used without the expressed written permission of the association. Strict branding guidelines have also been established to protect the integrity of the logo and the brand of Taekwondo Ontario.
